Donkeys are more than just quirky creatures with goofy grins and loud brays. They’re stronger than horses, live longer, and are incredibly intelligent. Built for rugged landscapes and endurance, they represent a mindset - determined, resilient, and ready for adventure.
Much like these incredible animals, three friends (Nic, Marcel, and Simoné) set out on their own adventure in the rugged and breathtaking Richtersveld. The terrain was tough, but their passion for adventure and fire burned brighter. Then, in a moment that could rival ancient legends... FLASH! There was light. There was heat. There was fire.

A Spark That Became a Brand
Gathered around a roaring fire, the trio faced a familiar frustration. Braai tools just weren’t long enough. With scorched fingers and bent backs, they realised that most Braai accessories weren’t made for serious fire lovers.
Then, like fire itself, an idea sparked.
Rushing home, they began crafting a solution. Not just a product, but a brand that would embody the spirit of adventure, quality craftsmanship, and the love of fire.
And so, the first tool, the Donkey Long Tong, was born. It wasn’t just a longer and stronger pair of Braai tongs; it was the beginning of something much bigger.
The first batch was made on a kitchen counter in an Airbnb, just in time for Braai Day 2021. The response? Flames of excitement from fellow fire lovers who had battled the same short Braai tong struggles.
