There’ve been so many Public Holidays lately, we’ve completely lost track. Between the “Which Public Holiday is it today?” and the “What day is it again?” questions, we have given up trying to keep a proper calendar. Instead, we’ve defaulted to a simpler rhythm. If the shops are closing early and the neighbours are home, it’s probably time to light a fire.

Want to make the most of that bonus day off? Pack the cooler, dust off the tent, and head into the wild. Camping is really just extended braai-time with a bedtime under the stars. Bring along your Jack Sack, because no one should be left out of the fun. There’s something magical about cooking on open flames while fending off chop thieves and telling stories that get wilder with every retelling.
